The Shore Way

A step by step guide to working with us.

Compiling your order

You may already have a list of items in mind, in which case we are happy to receive and work with your requirements, however, if you need a little inspiration, please give us a call or have a look through the catalogue.

The content of the catalogue is driven from three main areas. Primarily it is from demand, in terms of the products for which we receive regular orders. We also include many of the new and exciting products that we have sourced through the course of our business, as well as items that come highly acclaimed, via the Guild of Fine Food, the UK trade body for fine foods retailers, of which we are members. It simply is not possible to provide an entirely comprehensive list of all of the goods we supply, nor do we believe it is necessary. If you have a preferred brand, simply specify it on your order. We take great pride in our abilities to source the rare and usual, so don't hold back, put us to the test.

Pricing

In the past, we have included guide prices for as many products as possible. However given the variable nature of pricing, depending on where and when an item is purchased, we have decided not to include prices this time around, as it was proving to be misleading, rather than helpful. However, we are more than happy to offer quotes, on request, although please allow three days turnaround, during peak months (June, July, August and December).

The main reason we feel able to make this significant change is that we are confident that we offer the very best quality for the best possible price, by comparison to our competitors. We work very hard to ensure we make savings for our customers, through intelligent purchasing and on-going negotiations with our suppliers. For example, we freight most of our meat from the UK, as the quality and price is better value and the cuts are more familiar to most of our clients. You might think that the cost of air-freight cancelled out the cost-savings, but air freight isn't as expensive as you might think and having conducted significant analysis, we found that it was still better value for better produce and therefore a no brainer.

However, if timings do not allow, or we encounter issues that impact on our ability to transport goods, such as Bird Flu or airline strikes, we will use local suppliers for the same goods.

Overall, our prices reflect the seasonality of the goods and the premium quality of the items we supply. Where we can make savings, we will always pass this on to you.

Guest vs Crew

We recognise that your order may cover requirements for both guest and crew provisions and that your budgets may vary considerably across these orders. If you are happy to specify a difference between your lists, we will work to match the provisions to your needs, for example, you may require organic chicken for your guests, but standard, free-range for your crew requirements and if this is specified up front we can ensure that you will see the difference in goods supplied and ultimately on your invoice.

Substitutes

While we will always try to inform you, prior to delivery, of any items we have been unable to source and present the alternatives available, there may be occasions where this is not possible and we will substitute one brand for another. For example we might replace a Nestle breakfast cereal for a similar Kelloggs brand, Rachel's Organic Yogurts, in place of Yeo Valley or supply a number of smaller pack sizes of a product, if the larger ones are unavailable. However, there may be very specific items for which a substitute would not be appropriate, so, please indicate these on your order.
